"Jakub Bejnarowicz's was born in Poland in 1980. He moved from Poland to Germany in 1983 and spend his childhood in North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2001, he returned to Poland to start his cinematic journey at the local Film Academy. From 2003 onwards, he studied Cinematography at the Konrad Wolf University of Film and Television in Babelsberg. The short film "Wüste/Außen/Tag" earned him a nomination for the German Camera Award in 2010.


His graduation film "Entzauberungen" was nominated for the Special Camera Award at the 2010 First Steps Award. This was followed by "Der Fluss war einst ein Mensch" (directed by Jan Zabeil), which was shot with a very small team in the Okavango Delta.


The film achieved great success at the San Sebastian Film Festival. In 2012 Jakub Bejnarowicz started his collaboration with Matthias Glasner on "Gnade". He received the Bavarian Film Award for his cinematography work, as well as the German Film Critics' Award at the Berlinale. He was also nominated for the German Film Award in 2013 for Best Cinematography. In 2016, he received the German Academy of Television Award for Best Cinematography for "Auf kurze Distanz.". In 2019 he was nominated for Best Cinematography for his work at “Perfume”. Jakub Bejnarowicz is based in Berlin.
